Melie Kerr speaks about her experience with mental health and how it has affected her life. She talks about how grateful she is to the people who helped her get through those tough times, including the emergency department and crisis team. Melie also talks about how writing helped her communicate with family and to understand what she was going through. She describes how she faced her mental health issues head-on, and how that has allowed her to move forward in a positive way.

Today Melie is playing for the White Ferns (the NZ women’s cricket team), the Wellington Blaze, and in cricket leagues around the world including the Brisbane Heat in the Australian Women’s Big Bash League, and the London Spirit in the The Hundred competition in England.

Melie is excited about the work she is doing on her new project Out of the Rough and her partnership with I Am Hope. Together they are raising awareness and shining a light on the importance of reaching out for help, whether it’s for you or someone else. For those who have loved ones struggling, check in on them, show them love and care and be patient.
