When someone close to you is struggling it can be a difficult thing to deal with, especially when it’s your child. In this video, Robbie Kerr opens up about his experience with Melie’s mental health crisis and how he and his wife, Jo, found the best help possible. He also talks about the importance of communication and how important it is for parents to show their love for their children. There is real hope that things will get better if you show that communication and love.
Jo and I are very proud that Melie chose to speak up and not hide how vulnerable she was. Like Melie, our hope is that Out of the Rough and the Treading Water series will play a part in normalising the conversations around mental health. At the start of her journey, when the road ahead seemed long, having stories of hope made a huge difference to us all.
