Du’Plessis Kirifi
Du’Plessis Kirifi talks about how in his younger days he was afraid to take risks, but he’s since learnt there are no “soft options”. To take risks takes courage. He also talks about the trust he and his partner have in each other to talk about difficult things.
He’s learnt first-hand the importance of growth and how beneficial it is to open up and be vulnerable.
Today, Du’Plessis Kirifi plays rugby for the Hurricanes and is captain of the Wellington Lions. A highlight of the 2022 season was the Wellington Lions locking away the Ranfurly Shield until 2023. They did this by winning the challenge against the Hawke’s Bay and then defending the shield against Waikato. It’s been a long 13-year wait to have the log of wood back in Wellington.
Du’Plessis makes sure he looks out for his mates after learning from his own experiences. Outside of rugby he loves photography. You can check out his photos on Instagram @thefirstset.
